How to Spot a Fake Stone Island Badge – Expert Guide

BADGE REVEAL!

In this article we explain how to spot a fake Stone Island Badge. The photo we shared on instagram @commoncultured of the two Stone Island badges did, in fact, contain one fake badge and one real badge. As much as we’d like to say it was all a waste of time and both badges are genuine 😅

Firstly, it’s extremely difficult to identify one of these fake badges compared to the real badge from a photo alone. Some of you have rightly pointed out that it’s much easier to identify the fake when the badge is in hand, and it is. We legit check badges from photos when buying stock, but it’s very difficult to get it 100% right all of the time. Therefore, don’t be disheartened if you got it wrong; it’s hard!

The majority of people wouldn’t identify one of these badges as fake because from the front, there are very subtle differences which just show how good these are.

From the front of the badge, the only real striking difference is the color of the thread, which is hard to identify from a photo alone. The fake badge has a shiny, almost glitter-like thread compared to the matte thread on the genuine one. We have also spotted that the serifs (feet) on the A are curved and more prominent on the genuine badges. The fake badges almost look cleaner and more precise than the genuine ones, which doesn’t help.

The biggest giveaway is at the back, and other than the thread at the front, it’s the easiest way to identify a fake badge. Paying close attention to the compass, the fake badges have large and again precise black sections compared to the irregular black sections on the genuine badges. The genuine badges have minimal white and minimal black sections. The fake badge has larger, more precise black and white sections. The fake badges have more defined lettering at the back.

We’ve compared 15 genuine badges against 3 fakes across different seasons. All of the genuine badges have the same appearance from the front, but we have noticed there are slight differences in the genuine badges at the back, mostly color, but none of those have the precise black sections. The genuine badge we showcased had a very rich colour at the back.

Badge 1 = Fake

Badge 2 = Genuine

These are the best fake badges we’ve encountered and will unfortunately pass as genuine for the majority of people as they’re so close to the real deal. If you need any assistance with checking the authenticity of your items, then we’re always happy to help. Don’t forget to save this post for any future badge checks and make sure you don’t get caught out when buying replacement badges.

They claim they are real but certi logo says it’s fake. The square badge shows Island stone in that order from top
Left to right so surely this is fake?
